HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 28-2010RESOLUTION NO. 28-2010 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT A GRANT I2~ THE AMOUNT OF $1,811,925.00 FROM THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT (ARRA) ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS STATION CONSTRUCTION TO REHABILITATE FIRE STATION 63 AND AMENDING THE FY 2009-2010 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT BUDGET WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ("City") Fire Department applied for a Fire Station Construction Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA") pursuant to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act ("ARRA"); and WHEREAS, FEMA awarded the City a $1,811,925.00 grant for the rehabilitation of Fire Station 63, which includes maj or improvements such as structural reinforcement of the fire station to provide for stability during major seismic events, raising of the apparatus bays, and making the fire station free of health hazards from previous and current water damage; and WHEREAS, the grant represents 100% of the total funding available for the rehabilitation of Fire Station 63 and will be included in the Capital Improvement Project 2009 - 2010 budget; WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of a grant in the amount of $1,811,925.00 from FEMA in order to rehabilitate Fire Station 63 and amend the Capital Improvement Project budget; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby accepts a Fire Station Construction grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) in order to rehabilitate Fire Station 63 and amends the 2009-2010 Capital Improvement Project budget to reflect the budgeting allocations and receipt of said grant. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 24th day of March, 2010 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Pedro Gonzalez, Richard A. Garbarino, and Karyl Matsumoto, Vice Mayor Kevin Mullin and Mayor Mark Addiego NOES: None ABSTAIN: ABSENT: ATTEST:
