CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF $6,550
IN DONATIONS AND GRANT FUNDING TO SUPPORT THE
LIBRARY'S SUMMER READING CLUB AND READER
LEADER SERVICES AND AMEND THE LIBRARY
DEPARTMENT'S 2009/2010 OPERATING BUDGET
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco Library Department ("Library') established the
Summer Reading Club and Reader Leader programs to encourage children to read during the
summer break and improve reading skills; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of grant funding in the amount o£ $500 from
the Philanthropic Ventures Foundation, $50 from the South San Francisco Host Lions Club, $1,000
from the South San Francisco Friends of the Library, $5,000 from Amgen Foundation, totaling
$6,550, to support the Library's Summer Reading Club and Reader Leader programs; and
WHEREAS, the funds will be used to amend this year's operating budget of the Library
Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco hereby accepts the following grants: $500 from the Philanthropic Ventures Foundation;
$50 from the South San Francisco Host Lions Club; $1,000 from the South San Francisco Friends of
the Library; and $5,000 from the Amgen Foundation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
amends the 2009/2010 operating budget, to reflect an increase of $6,550 to the Library Department's
budget.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 12`h day of May,
2010 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Pedro Gonzalez, Richard A. Garbarino, and Karyl Matsumoto,
Vice Mayor Kevin Mullin and Mayor Mark Addie~o
