CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION AWARDING THE CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT TO GALLAGHER & BURK, INC. FOR THE
UTAH AVENUE AND GRAND AVENUE RESURFACING
PROJECT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $609,609
WHEREAS, City of South San Francisco ("City") staff issued a Notice Inviting Bids for
the Utah Avenue and Grand Avenue Resurfacing Project ("Project"); and
WHEREAS, on May 14, 2010, City staff received eight (8) valid bids in response; and
WHEREAS, Gallagher & Burk, Inc. of Oakland, California was the lowest responsible
bidder; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends awarding the construction contract to Gallagher & Burk,
Inc. of Oakland, California in the amount of $609,609; and
WHEREAS, staff will utilize $328,300 of remaining ARRA federal funds and $448,950
o f Prop 1 B funds for the Project; and
WHEREAS, the Project is included in the City of South San Francisco's 2009-2010
Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and sufficient funds have been allocated to cover the
Project cost; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby awards the construction contract for the Utah Avenue and
Grand Avenue Resurfacing Project to Gallagher & Burk, Inc. of Oakland, California, in an
amount not to exceed $609,609, conditioned on Gallagher & Burk, Inc.'s timely execution of the
Project contract and submission of all required documents, including but not limited to executed
bonds, certificates of insurance, and endorsements, in accordance with the Project documents.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the
documents on behalf of the City Council upon timely submission by Gallagher & Burk, Inc.
signed contract and all other documents, subject to approval by the City Attorney.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 9th day of
June, 2010 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Pedro Gonzalez, Richard A. Garbarino, and Karl Matsumoto,
Vice Mayor Kevin Mullin and Mayor Mark Addiego
