HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 81-1999RESOLUTION NO. 81-99 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE DATE OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR 1999, ORDERING THE PUBLICATION OF A NOTICE OF ELECTION AS REQUIRED BY THE ELECTIONS CODE AND ESTABLISHING THE HOURS DURING WHICH THE POLLS SHALL BE OPEN BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the general municipal election of the City of South San Francisco shall, in accordance with the Elections, Education and Government Codes of the State of California, be held on the 2nd day of November 1999 for the following offices: City Councilmember, City of South San Francisco - full term City Councilmember, City of South San Francisco - full term BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the hours during which the polls shall be open shall be from 7:00a.m. to 8:00p.m., and the City shall give the required notices, Exhibit "A", and conduct the election as set forth in the Elections, Education and Government Codes of the State of California. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a Regular meeting held on the 23 day of June , 1999 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Joseph A. Fernekes, Eugene R. Mull/n, John R. Penna, Mayor Pro Tem Karyl Matsumoto, and Mayor James L. Datzman. NOES: None ABSTAIN: None None ABSENT: C:\My Documents\RESO\election.res.doc ATTEST: ity Clerk EXHIBIT A TO RESOLUTION NO. 81-99 ELECTION NOTICE A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO WILL BE HELD TUESDAY, THE 2na DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1999 AND THE FOLLOWING OFFICES WILL APPEAR ON THE BALLOT: MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL--FULL TERM (4 YEARS) MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL--FULL TERM (4 YEARS) All forms required for nomination to elective office shall be furnished by City Clerk Sylvia M. Payne, 400 Grand Avenue, South San Francisco, California 94080, beginning Monday, July 12, 1999, without charge during regular business hours. Please call 650.877.8518 for further information. Nomination closes Friday, August 6, 1999, at 5:00 p.m. There will be a five day extension of the nomination period if an incumbent does not file for office, which date is Wednesday, August 11, 1999, at 5:00 p.m. To be eligible to hold office, one must be an elector of the City when he/she assumes such office and a registered voter of the City at the time nomination papers are issued to the candidate, per Elections and Government Codes. Appointment to each elective office will be made pursuant to Elections Code Section 10229 in the event there are no nominees or an insufficient number of nominees for such office. The POLLS shall be opened at 7:00 a.m. and shall be kept open until 8:00 p.m. of said day when the polls shall be closed, except as otherwise provided in Sections 14212 of the Elections Code.
