CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION ADOPTING NEGATIVE DECLARATION ND-97-
068 RELATED TO AMENDMENTS TO THE CITY'S ZONING CODE
PERTAINING TO THE "RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
OVERLAY DISTRICT REGULATIONS" (CHAPTER 20.39) AND
THE "GENENTECH RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OVERLAY
DISTRICT" (CHAPTER 20.40) LOCATED IN THE EAST OF 101
AREA
WHEREAS, an application was submitted to the City by Genentech, Incorporated to amend the
Zoning Ordinance of the City of South San Francisco for the "Research & Development Overlay District
Regulations" (Chapter 20.39), and the "Genentech Research & Development Overlay District" (Chapter
20.40); and,
WHEREAS, an environmental initial study which considered the impacts of the proposed
amendments to the Zoning Ordinance had been processed in accordance with the California Environmental
Quality Act; and,
WHEREAS, based on the initial study and other information including, but not limited to, the
East of 101 Area Plan Environmental Impact Report, Negative Declaration ND-97-004 was prepared and
noticed on September 18, 1997; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a duly noticed public hearing on October 2, 1997 and
November 6, 1997 on the adequacy of the proposed Negative Declaration ND-97-068; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission considered the Negative Declaration ND-97-068 and
found said declaration to comply with the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission took public testimony considered the information
contained in the staff report, orally presented by City staff and recommended approval of the Negative
Declaration:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby approves Negative
Declaration ND-97-068 related to the proposed amendment to the Zoning Ordinance of the City of South
San Francisco for the "Research & Development Overlay District Regulations" (Chapter 20.39), and the
"Genentech Research & Development Overlay District" (Chapter 20.40) based on the findings set forth in
the Negative Declaration.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolutionwasl a rregularly introduced and adopted bv the City
Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regu meeting held on the 14th day of_
danuary , 1998 by the following vote:
