CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM BUDGET (CIP 98-3) FOR
INSTALLATION OF SAFETY BRAKES ON THE CITY'S
HYDRAUI,IC El ,EVATORS
WHEREAS, the City has recently received correspondence from Otis Elevator Company
concerning a safety risk posed by single-bottom, in-ground cylinder design hydraulic elevators; and
WHEREAS, the City currently has five such elevators in operation: Municipal Services Building
(2); Magnolia Center; West Orange Library; and City Hall; and
WHEREAS, installation of a safety brakes on each elevator will protect the safety of persons using
the elevators; and
WHEREAS, sufficient undesignated reserve funds exist for this project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
that it hereby approves a budget amendment to the Capital Improvement Program (CIP 98-3 ) consisting of
the transfer of $65,000 from undesignated general fund reserves to the Capital Improvement Program
budget for installation of safety brakes on the City's hydraulic elevators.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City
Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regul ar' meeting held on the 13th day of~
