HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 30-1997RESOLUTION NO. 30-97 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE USE OF A MASTER PUBLIC EMPLOYEE BOND TO SECURE THE FAITHFUL PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES OF CITY OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES WHEREAS, Section 36518 of the Government Code and Section 2.20.010 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code require the City Clerk and City Treasurer to file official bonds to secure the faithful performance of their duties; and WHEREAS, the City Council, by Resolution No. 38-91, has specified that the faithful performance bonds filed by the City Clerk and City Treasurer shall be in the penal sum of $500,000 each; and WHEREAS, Section 2.20.020 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code authorizes the City Council to require the filing of performance bonds by other City officers and employees, and the City Council, by Resolution 38-91, has required that the City Manager, Director of Finance, Administrative Services Officer, Assistant City Manager, and Chief Accountant each file a faithful performance bond in the penal sum of $500,000; and WHEREAS, Section 1481 of the Government Code provides that, when the legislative body of a city deems it expedient to do so, the city may approve the use of a master bond to provide coverage for more than one of a city's officials and employees who are required to provide a bond; and WHEREAS, the City Council hereby determines that it is expedient to use a single master bond to secure the faithful performance of duties by the city officials and employees required to provide bonds by Section 2.20.010 of the Municipal Code and/or by Resolution No. 38-91; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, that: 1. The City Council hereby approves the use of a single, master "Public Employee Blanket Bond," which shall provide coverage to the extent and for the term substantially as set forth in the attached summary document (including any renewals thereof), to secure the faithful performance of their duties by the city officials and employees required to provide bonds by Section 2.20.010 of the Municipal Code and/or by Resolution No. 38-91. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 23rd day of April , 1997 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Jim Datzman, Eugene R.
