HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 56-1997RESOLUTION NO. 56-97 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE DAVID AND LUCILLE PACKARD FOUNDATION FOR $60,592 FOR THE 1997-99 FISCAL YEARS TO CONTINUE THE EXPANSION OF THE USE OF VOLUNTEERS IN CITY DEPARTMENTS WHEREAS, the David and Lucille Packard Foundation has made funds available to continue assisting selected cities with their plans to involve increased numbers of residents as volunteers; and WHEREAS, the Grant will pay for up to 32 hours per week for a temporary, part-time hourly Volunteer Coordinator who continue to provide City departments with information and assistance in recruiting and training volunteers; and WHEREAS, the Grant will expand the use of students as volunteers and develop a South San Francisco Internet Home Page which would include volunteer requests from City departments; and WHEREAS, all personnel costs will be bome by Grant funds and no financial obligation will fall upon the City. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco as follows: 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to submit a grant application to the David and Lucille Packard Foundation for a two-year, $60,592 Grant to continue expansion of the use of volunteers in City departments. 2. The City Manager is further authorized to execute any and all documents necessary to assure that the City obtains and appropriately expends such funds. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regu] ar meeting held on the 28th day of May , 1997 by the following vote. AYES: Councilmembers James L. Datzman, Eugene R. Mullin, John R. Penna, Robert Yee and Mayor Joseph A. Fernekes NOES: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: None City Clerk a:\packard.res
