HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 64-1997RESOLUTION NO. 64-97 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AWARDING THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO ACCUTITE ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING FOR THE REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT OF UNDERGROUND FUEL TANKS PROJECT IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $132,871.00, APPROVING A PROJECT BUDGET OF $152,871.00 AND AUTHORIZING AN ADDITIONAL CONTINGENCY IN THE AMOUNT OF $51,000.00 TO BE USED IN TIlE EVENT CONTAMINANTS ARE ENCOUNTERED WHEREAS, the City desires to award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder, Accutite Environmental Engineering in an amount not to exceed $132,871.00; and WHEREAS, the 1995-96 and 1996-97 Capital Improvement Program allocated $150,000.00 to replace four tanks operated at the Water Quality Control Plant and the 1996-97 Capital Improvement Program allocated $100,000.00 to replace and begin remediation of two tanks operated by the Public Works garage at Fire Station No. 2 and the Corporation Yard; and WI-IEREAS, in February 1997 the annual leak test was conducted and the test showed that tanks at Fire Station No. 2, Corporation Yard, and the San Mateo Pump Station each have leaks; and WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Health Deparlment, the regulatory agency for underground tanks, has ordered that the tanks be removed; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that it hereby awards the construction contract to Accutite Environmental Engineering for the Removal/Replacement of Underground Fuel Tanks Project in the amount not to exceed $132,871.00, and approves a project budget of $152,871.00. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council hereby authorized an additional contingency in the amount of $51,000 to be used for environmental remediation as deemed necessary by the Director of Public Works.
