CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION APPROVING BUDGET ~ENDMENT NO. 97-3 TO
THE 1996-97 OPERATING BUDGET ADDING $21,000 FROM
CALIFORNIA LITERACY, INC. RELATED TO PROJECT READ
ADULT LEARNER CONFERENCES
WHEREAS, to provide support to the eight Regional Literacy Resource
Centers in planning regional Adult Learner Conferences; and
WHEREAS, grant funds will pay for 365 hours of the Project Read
director's time for consultation and support, for printing the guidebook,
supplies, travel to regional sites, and telephone costs; and
WHEREAS,; the grant would offset $12,000 in the current Project Read
budget for salary and benefits of the Project Read director; and
WHEREAS, an augmentation in the amount of $9,000 would be made to the
Project Read budget for travel, printing, telephone and supplies needed to
carry out the project; and
WHEREAS, A Letter of Agreement between California Literacy, Inc. and
Project Read has been drafted and is attached; and
WHEREAS, this grant would augment this existing Project Read budget in
the amount of $9,000 for the 1996/97 fiscal year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco that it hereby approves Budget Amendment No. 97-3 adding
$21,000 from California Literacy, Inc. related to Project Read Adult Learner
Conferences.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a
reqular meeting held on the 23rd day of October , 1996 by the
following vote.
AYES: Councilmembers Joseph A. Fernekes, Eugene R. Mullin, John R.
Penna, Robert Yee and Chairman Jack Drago
