R-q6 CITY COUNCIl, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION DIRECTING NEGOTIATION WITH GES-ENTECH FOR IT TO PROVIDE FUNDS TO ASSIST THE CITY IN ACQUIRING AND MAINTAINING THE WIS'D HARP PARCEL AND DIRECTING THE CITY TO DESIGN AND CONSTRUCT A PARK AT THE WIND HARP PARCF. L (APN 015-250-100) RRCTTAT.S WHEREAS, located within the jurisdiction of the City of South San Francisco ("City") is an outdoor sculpture known as the Wind Harp; ard WHEREAS, City residents and community groups have expressed interest in acquiring the Wind Harp sculpture and transforming the attached property (APN 015-250-100) into a passive park for the use and enjoyment of citizens; and WHEREAS, Genentech has expressed interest in working with the City to provide financial assistance to the City for acquiring the Wind Harp sculpture and parcel; and WHEREAS, funds exist in the Cabot, Cabot & Forbes Industrial Park Assessment District No. 3 which will enable the city to design and construct a passive park environment at the property; and WHEREAS~ Genentech has expressed interest in working with the City to provide financial assistance for the maintenance of any such par~ created at the Wind Harp property; and WHEREAS, if Genentech were to assist the City in the manner described herein, the City would provide Genentech with recognition appropriate to Genentech's efforts. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that City staff are directed to negotiate, and the City Manager execute, an agreement with Genentech which will provide for Genentech's financial assistance in the acquisition of the Wind Harp sculpture and property, as well as finan=ial assistance in the yearly maintenance costs of the park which will be created on the property; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, that after the acquisition of the Wind Harp sculpture and property, City staff design and build, or cause to be built, a passive recreational park at the Wind Harp parcel using funds from the Cabot, Cabot and Forbes Assessment District No. 3 fund. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a rog,il ar meeting held on the 10th day of danuary , 1996, by the following vote: AYES: qouncilmembers Joseph A.
