HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 13-1996RESOLUTION NO. 13-96 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT AND ANY SUBSEQUENT AMENDMENTS BETWEEN THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY AND FIRE PROTECTION AND THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AND APPROVING BUDGET AMENDMENT 96-5 TO THE 1995-1996 OPERATING BUDGET WHEREAS, funds have been made available through the 1995 Small Business Administration (SBA) Tree Planting Program to encourage the development and capacity of small businesses and to permit rapid increases in employment opportunities in local communities by contracting with small business to plant trees on land owned or controlled by the State or local government; and WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco has submitted an application for these grant funds to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection to be used for planting two hundred (200) street ~rees; and WHEREAS, the City was notified that its application was approved for funding and, as per the agreement, staff will purchase two hundred (200) trees from a small business nursery and use a small business to plant the trees; and WHEREAS, the main locations for the plantings are Circle Court and portions of Commercial and Grand Avenues; and WHEREAS, adoption of this resolution will allow the City to receive $25,000 from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection under the terms of the agreement; and WHEREAS, in-kind contributions are required including an administrative fee in the amount of $5,000. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco as follows: 1. The City Council hereby authorizes the execution of an Agreement between the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the City of South San Francisco for distribution of grant funds in the amount of Twenty Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000) under the SmaLl Business Administration Tree Planting Program. 2. The City Council hereby authorizes an amendment to the Operating Budget (BA-96-5) in the amount of $5,000 which is the required Administrative Fee to be submitted with the agreement. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a reqular meeting held on the 24th day of January , 1996 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Joseph A.
