HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 83-1995RESOLUTION NO. 83-95 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AND BAYSHORE AMBULANCE COMPANY TO PROVIDE FOR BACKUP BASIC LIFE SUPPORT TRANSPORT SERVICE WHEREAS, the Fire Department has utilized local ambulance companies to transport non-emergency patients since 1991; and WHEREAS, this practice was initiated to make the city's ambulance more available to respond to and transport patients with life-threatening emergency medical conditions; and WHEREAS, the current BLS transport provider is Baystar Ambulance Company and their contract clearly identifies response time goals and the maximum fee that may be charged by the provider for BLS transport; and WHEREAS, performance audits have proven that Baystar has not provided adequate resources to consistently meet the City's transportation needs; and WHEREAS, cancellation of Baystar has been considered but recognizing the need for a contracted BLS provider will be remedied next year when the City's second ambulance will be placed in service providing a primary and backup transport service with Baystar providing services in the interim. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that it hereby authorizes the City Manager to prepare and execute an agreement between the Bayshore Ambulance Company and the City of South San Francisco for backup basic life support transport services. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that as with the existing contract, there would be no cost to the City in maintaining backup coverage. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a requ]ar meeting held on the 9th day of August , 1995 by the following vote.
