CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SUSPENSION OF
PUBLIC BIDDING PURSUANT TO SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 4.040.70
AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PREPARE
AND EXECUTE ON BEHALF OF THE CITY A CONTRACT
FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF ELECTRICAL CABLING
AND MOTOR CONTROL CENTER EQUIPMENT AT THE
CITY'S WATER QUALITY CONTROL PLANT
WHEREAS, the City and OSHA inspectors have inspected the
existing motor control center and electrical cabling at the
City's Water Quality Control Plant and have determined those
pieces of equipment to be unsafe;
WHEREAS, OSHA has issued a citation to the City requiring
correction of these unsafe conditions by December 29, 1994;
WHEREAS, Correction of these unsafe conditions constitute an
emergency pursuant to South San Francisco Municipal Code section
4.040.70 in that the present conditions present a health hazard
and OSHA has required correction of these deficiencies prior to
December 29, 1994;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of South San Francisco, that:
1. Pursuant to South San Francisco Municipal Code section
4.040.70, the City Council does suspend the bid procedures which
would otherwise apply to this public contract;
2. The City Manager is authorized to request bids from three
contractors to perform the scope of work set forth in the staff
report and is also authorized to prepare and execute a
construction contract for the replacement of electrical cabling
and motor control center equipment at the Water Quality Control
Plant, in an amount not to exceed $40,000.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly
introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco at a reqlJlar meeting held on the 14th day
of December , 1994, by'the following vote:
