HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 82-1993 RESOLUTION NO. 82-93 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION APPROVING BUDGET RECOMMENDATION FOR THE FOWLER BUILDING AND J & J LIQUORS IN THE DOWNTOWN COMMERCIAL REHABILITATION PROGRAM WHEREAS, the Downtown Citizens Review Committee has recommended funding for two businesses in the Downtown area; and WHEREAS, The proposed project, J & J Liquors located at 113- 115 Grand Avenue at the corner of Cypress Avenue, consists of partial demolition and renovation of the Grand Avenue corner and the building on Cypress Avenue, a total of four businesses; and WHEREAS, the Committee has recommended a $5,000 grant, a matching grant of $50,000 and a loan of $35,000 to renovate the building with tile, stucco and brick, and the installation of new awnings, new windows and new lighting fixtures; and WHEREAS, the second project involves the Fowler building located Ln the 262 Grand Avenue; and WHEREAS, the Fowler building renovation will consist of partial demolition with the creation of a new brick corner and cornice, new metal awnings and exterior refinishing and painting; and WHEREAS, the Committee has recommended a $5,000 grant, and a matching grant of $50,000 to complete this project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco as follows: 1. A CDBG grant of $5,000, a matching grant of $50,000 and a loan of $35,000 are approved and awarded to J & J Liquors from the Community Development Block Grant Funds to partially demolish and renovate the building located at 113-115 Grand Avenue. 2. A CDBG grant of $5,000 and a matching grant of $50,000 are hereby awarded to the Fowler Building from the Community Development Block Grant Funds to partially demolish and renovate the building located at 262 Grand Avenue. 3. The owners of the subject buildings shall provide funds equal to the matching grant awards. 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized to negotiate and execute any and all documents necessary to assure that the above- listed grants are awarded and projects carried out. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 14th day of ~u]y , 1993 by the following vote: AYES: NOES: ABSTAIN: ABSENT: Councilmembers Jack Drago, Joseph A.
