HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 16-1994 RESOLUTION NO. 16-94 CITY CO-3NCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO CITY COUNCIL DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, DISPENSING WITH COMPETITIVE BIDDING, AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO EXPEND $70,000 TO CORRECT THE SEWER PROBLEM AT ~26 CONRAD COURT AND APPROVING CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT BUDGET AMENDMENT 94-2 WHEREAS, there is a broken sewer pipe located in a public easement at the rear of #26 Conrad Court; and WHEREAS, the pipe is located more than 20 feet deep; and WHEREAS, the break presents an imminent hazard and danger to the surrounding neighborhood if not immediately addressed; and WHEREAS, there is not sufficient time to go out for a formal bid; and WHEREAS, the Council finds that immediate action is necessary to protect citizens in the area of the sewer break. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of South San Francisco resolves as follows: 1. The Council hereby declares that an emergency exists in the vicinity of #26 Conrad Court due to a sewer break. 2. The Council hereby waives the requirements pursuant to Government Code Municipa2 Code Section 4.04.070. competitive bidding Section 20168 and 3. Seventy thousand dollars ($70,000) is hereby appropriated from the sewer fund to deal with the emergency. 4. The Public Works Director is hereby authorized to negotiate and enter into any contracts necessary to correct the problem. Such contracts shall not exceed $70,000 without the prior authorization of Council. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted~by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 9th day of February , 1994 by the following vote. AYES: NOES: ABSTAIN: Councilmembers Jack Drago, John R. Penna,. Roberta Cerri Teglia, Robert Yee and Mayor Joseph A. Fernekes None None ABSENT: None City Clerk
