HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 28-1993RESOLUTION NO. 28-93 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE DOWNTOWN COMMERCIAL PROGRAM GUIDELINES WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 95-87 approving the Downtown Commercial Rehabilitation Program Guidelines on July 22, 1987; and WHEREAS, the Guidelines set forth specific priorities, eligibility requirements and selection procedures; and WHEREAS, during the design phase of projects it often becomes evident that significant structural work will be required involving either partial or complete demolition of the existing facade; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to assure that buildings being extensively remodeled be made seismically safe; and WHEREAS, seismic retrofitting can become an economic burden which can result in property owners withdrawing from the rehabilitation program; and WHEREAS, such withdrawal rehabiliuation plan; and is a detriment to the City WHEREAS, an amendment to the Program Guidelines allowing money spent on seismic retrofitting to be considered part of an owners "matching contribution" would serve the dual purpose of encouraging rehabilitation and improving the safety of existing buildings and structures. NOW, THEREFORE the City Council of South San Francisco does resolve as follows: Subsection D is hereby added to Section II of the Downtown Commercial Rehabilitation Guidelines (as adopted by Resolution No. 95-87) to read as follows: "D. Seismic Safety Matching Funds Up to $25,000 of private funds expended for seismic retrofitting of a building in conjunction with the Downtown Rehabilitation Program may be considered as a matching contribution for the purpose of securing a C.D.B.G. matching grant. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 10th day of March , 1993 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Jack Drago, Joseph A.
