CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING LIBRARY SERVICES AND CONSTRUCTION
ACT GRANT FUNDS FROM THE CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY
(PROYECTO ALCANCE: YEAR 3)
WHEREAS, Congress, by enacting Public Law 84-597, as amended, has made
available funds in the form of formula grants for library services and
construction; and
WHEREAS, these funds may be used for books and other library materials,
library equipment, salaries and other operating expenses; and
WHEREAS, the South San Francisco Public Library has developed a project
entitled "Proyecto Alcante: Year 3" to further cement the links developed
between the Hispanic Community served by the library through the following
activities: (1) a revision of the homework assistance center at Parkway
Junior High School to rely more on school referrals; (2) a public relations
campaign to share project successes with other library systems; (3) a "Latin
Fair" celebration for the citizens of South San Francisco; and (4) monitoring
the use of library and project services to evaluate program effectiveness; and
WHEREAS, this program has been determined to be eligible to receive
Library Se-vices and Construction Grant Act funds;
NOW, T~EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco that the City Librarian is hereby authorized to accept Library
Services aid Construction Grant funds in the amount of Sixty Five Thousand,
Five Hundred Sixty Six Dollars ($65,566.00) to implement the program.
