HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 01-2011RESOLUTION NO. 01-2011 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH DELL TO PURCHASE STORAGE AREA NETWORK (SAN) DISK DRIVES. WHEREAS, staff recommends that the City Council award a contract to DELL Marketing L.P., of Round Rock, Texas (DELL) for the purchase of two (2) Storage Area Network (SAN) disk drives, in an amount not to exceed $120,000; and WHEREAS, Section 4.04.040 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code (SSFMC) expressly authorizes the City to take advantage of valid contract terms that have been negotiated by another governmental agency, where that agency had used a quote or bid process substantially conforming with SSFMC Chapter 4.04 and State law; and WHEREAS, DELL is part of the Western States Contracting Alliance (WSCA Contract B- 27160, California PA #B27160) and the National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO). The WSCA state contract was designed to make it easier for cities to purchase; and WHEREAS, the State of California has also executed a purchase agreement addendum for the same products utilizing the WSCA contract process; and WHEREAS, staff has verified that WSCA's bid process and agreement with DELL substantially conforms to SSFMC Chapter 4.04 and State law; and WHEREAS, funding is included in the 2008-2009/2009-2010 CIP budgets in the amount of $120,000; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby: 1. Authorizes the City Manager to execute the Agreement on behalf of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco upon timely submission by DELL of the signed project contract and all other required documents, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 12th day of January 2011 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mark Addie~o, Pedro Gonzalez, and Karyl Matsumoto, Vice Mayor Richard A.
