HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 78-1991RESOLUTION NO. 78-91 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE DATE OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR 1991, ORDERING THE PUBLICATION OF A NOTICE OF ELECTION AS REQUIRED BY THE ELECTIONS CODE AND ESTABLISHING THE HOURS DURING WHICH THE POLLS SHALL BE OPEN BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the general municipal election of the City of South San Francisco shall, in accordance with the Elections, Education and Government Codes of the State of California, be held on the 5th day of November 1991, for the following offices; City Councilmember, City of South San Francisco - full term City Councilmember, City of South San Francisco - full term BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the hours during which the polls shall be open shall be from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and the City Clerk shall give the required notices (see Exhibit "A" attached), as set forth in the Elections, Education and Government Codes of the State of California. I ~ereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the lOth day of July 1991, by the following vote: AYES, COUNCILMEMBERS II II NOES, " ABSTAIN, " ABSENT, " City Councilmembers Richard A. Penna, Roberta Cerri Teglia, and Mayor Jack Drago None None City Councilmember Gus Nicolopulos City Clerk ELECTION NOTICE EXHIBIT A TO RESOLUTION NO. 78-91 A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO WILL BE HELD TUESDAY, THE 5TH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1991 AND THE FOLLOWING OFFICES WILL APPEAR ON THE BALLOT: MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL -- FULL TERM (4 YEARS) MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL -- FULL TERM (4 YEARS) Al' forms required for nomination to elective office shall be furnished by the City Clerk's Office, 400 Grand Avenue, So. San Francisco, CA 94080, beginning Monday, July 15, 1991 without charge during regular business hours (EC 22842). The only charge to a candidate would be a prorated charge for the candidate's statement appearing in the sample ballot which is anticipated to be $250.00 if the candidate chooses to prepare the statement. Nonination closes Friday, August 9, 1991, at 5:00 p.m. There will be a five day extension of the nomination period if an incumbent does not file for office which date is Wednesday, August 14, 1991, at 5:00 p.m. To be eligible to hold office one must be an elector of the City when he/she assumes such office, and was a registered voter of the City at the time nomination papers are issued to the candidate (GC 36502 and EC 22842). Appointment to each elective office will be made pursuant to Election Code 23520 in the event there are no nominees or an insufficient number of nominees for such office. The POLLS shall be opened at 7:00 a.m. and shall be kept open until 8:00 p.m. of said day when the polls shall be closed, except as otherwise provided in Section 14301 of the Elections Code.
