CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS, AUTHORZING THE WORK
AND CALLING BIDS FOR THE RAILROAD
AVENUE SANITARY SEWER REPLACEMENT
PROJECT
WHEREAS, plans and specifications providing for certain improvement
work have been submitted, which plans and specifications are entitled:
RAIILROAD AVENUE SANITARY SEWER REPLACEMENT PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to approve the plans and
specificatiors, authorize the work and call for sealed proposals;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
South San Francisco, that:
1. The plans and specifications identified above are approved and
the work provided for is hereby authorized.
2. The Administrative Services Officer is hereby directed to
publish a notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the work in
accordance w~th the plans and specifications on file in the Purchasing
Office. Notice shall be published at least twice not less than five (5)
days apart in the Enterprise-Journal, a newspaper of general circulation
printed and )ublished in the City of South San Francisco. The first
publication of the notice shall be at least ten (10) days before the date
of opening of the bids.
All proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a cashier's or
certified check payable to the order of the City of South San Francisco
in an amount equal to not less than ten percent (10%) of the bid figure,
or by a bond lin the amount drawn in favor of the City and executed by a
corporate surlety. The check shall be forfeited by the bidder, or the bond
shall becomelPayable to the City in case the lowest responsible bidder
or bidders depositing the same does not, within the time set forth in the
plans and specifications, enter into a contract with the City. Faithful
performance of the contract shall be guaranteed by an undertaking in the
amount of on') hundred percent (100%) of the sum bid, the undertaking
being that of a corporate surety satisfactory to the City. The contract
shall be accompanied by a labor and materials bond of a corporate surety,
also in a sum equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the
bid for any bid in an amount not exceeding $5 Million Dollars; and in a
sum as required by Civil Code Section 3248 for any bid in excess of $5
__Million Dollars. In case of a forfeiture, as provided for in the
preceding sentence, the defaulting bidder shall be liable to the City for
any additionql expense to which it may reasonably be put in connection
with obtaining full and complete performance of the particular work of
improvement Kith which this Notice to Bidders is concerned.
3. Bi $ will be received by the City of South San Francisco,
California, at the Purchasing Office, City Hall Annex, 315 Maple Avenue,
South San Francisco, California 94080, at or before the hour of 2:00 P.M.
on Tuesday, the 7th day of November, 1989.
The bids will be publicly opened, examined and declared at that
time in the Conference Room, City Hall, 400 Grand Avenue, South San
Francisco, ard award will thereafter be made by the City Council of the
City to the owest responsible bidder or bidders, subject, however, to
the right of the City Council to reject any and all bids.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly
introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 25th day of October ,
1989, by the following vote:
