HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 16-2011RESOLUTION NO. 16-2011 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO APPROVII~fG THE GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE MTC/ABAG STATION AREA AND LAND USE PLANNING PROGRAM _ WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) started the FOCUS Program in 2007 to work with local governments to create Priority Development Areas (PDA) where locally-identified, infill development opportunities can offer services and amenities to meet the day-to-day needs of residents in apedestrian-friendly environment served by transit; and WHEREAS, the FOCUS Program directs financial assistance and other resources to Priority Development Areas, including providing funding for the fourth cycle of the Station Area and Land Use Planning Program which finances local land use plans and policies to substantially increase transit ridership around transit hubs and bus and rail corridors in local Bay Area communities; and WHEREAS, the City Council supported the designation of the Downtown areas as a PDA on July 8, 2009, to continue building on the City's transiit-oriented planning focused on the outstanding transit service and connections in the downtown, including the Cal-Train Station; and WHEREAS, if the City's grant application is selected for funding, the City will perform all grant obligations, including completing and adopting a Station Area and Land Use Plan, as well as adopting implementation measures commensurate with that Plan. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Ci1:y Council of the City of South San Francisco approves the submittal of an application for the Station Area and Land Use Planning Program Grant under the MTC/ABAG FOCUS Program. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 9`" day of February 2011 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mark Addiego, Pedro Gonzalez, and Karyl Matsumoto, Vice Mavor Richard A. Garbarino and Mavor 1{evin Mullin NOES: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT:
