CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS, AUTHORIZING THE WORK AND
CALLING BIDS FOR THE RODENT CONTROL PROGRAM
WHERE~S, plans and specifications providing for certain improvement
work have been submitted, which plans and specifications are entitled:
RDDENT CONTROL PROGRAM, BID NO. 1787
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to approve the plans and
specifications, authorize the work and call for sealed proposals;
NOW, ~HEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the ~ity of South
San FrancisCo, that:
1. The plans and specifications identified above are approved and the
work provided for is hereby authorized, and the plans and specifications are
hereto incorporated.
2. The Administrative Services Officer of the City is hereby directed
to publish a notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the work in
accordance with the plans and specifications on file in the Purchasing
Office. Notice shall be published at least twice not less than five (5)
days apartl in the Enterprise-Journal, a newspaper of general circulation
printed and published in the City of South San Francisco. The first
publicationi of the notice shall be at least ten (10) days before the date of
opening of !the bids.
Aill proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a cashier's or
certified Qheck payable to the order of the City of South San Francisco in
an amount ~qual to not less than ten percent (10%) of the bid figure, or by
a bond in i~he amount drawn in favor of the City and executed by a corporate
surety. The! check shall be forfeited by the bidder, or the bond shall become
payable roi the City in case the lowest responsible bidder or bidders
depositing Ithe same does not within the time set forth in the plans and
speclflcatlions, enter into a contract with the City. Faithful performance of
the contract shall be guaranteed by an undertaking in the amount of one
hundred pe-cent (100%) of the sum bid, the undertaking being that of a
corporate surety satisfactory to the City Council. The contract shall be
accompanied by a labor and materials bond of a corporate surety, also in a
sum equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the bid for any bid
in an amount not exceeding $5 Million Dollars; and in a sum as required by
Civil CodeiSection 3248 for any bid in excess of $5 Million Dollars. In
case of a i forfeiture, as provided for in the preceding sentence, the
defaulting !bidder shall be liable to the City for any additional expense to
which it ~ay reasonably be put in connection with obtaining full and
complete p~rformance of the particular work of improvement with which this
Notice to Biidders is concerned.
3. Blids will be received by the City of South San Francisco,
California,' at the Purchasing Office, City Hall Annex, 315 Maple Avenue,
South San Francisco, California 94080, at or before the hour of 2:00 P.M. on
Tuesday, the 16th day of May, 1989.
Tlhe bids will be publicly opened, examined and declared at that
time in thie Conference Room, City Hall, 400 Grand Avenue, South San
Francisco,and award will thereafter be made by the City Council of the City
to the lowest responsible bidder or bidders, subject, however, to the right
of the Cit~ Council to reject any and all bids.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a
regular meeting held on the 26th day of April , 1989, by the
