HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 27-2011RESOLUTION NO. 27 -2011 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF A SCULPTURE BY ROGER WHITE STOLLER IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $34,000 AND AMENDING THE 2010/11 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM BUDGET WHEREAS, staff recommends the purchase of the sculpture Evohelix for placement on the East grass area at Centennial Way and Spruce Avenue; and WHEREAS, staff recommends amending the 2010/11 Capital Improvement Program budget in the amount of $12,000 to cover the purchase and installation of the sculpture; and WHEREAS, in August 2010, staff sent out a nationwide call for entries, and twenty -four entries were received and reviewed by the Cultural Art Commission ( "Commission ") sculpture sub - committee; and WHEREAS, the sculpture sub - committee selected four entries to present to the Commission for consideration; and WHEREAS, at the Commission's meeting on January 20, 2011, the Commission voted unanimously in favor of recommending Evohelix to the City Council for approval. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that: - the City Council hereby authorizes the purchase and installation of Evohelix from Roger White Stoller of Stoller Studio, Inc., Portola Valley, California in an amount not to exceed $34,000; and - the 2010/11 Capital Improvement budget is hereby amended by $12,000, with funds coming from the Public Art Fund, to acquire this art work. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 23 day of February 2011 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mark Addiego, Pedro Gonzalez, and Karyl Matsumoto, NOES: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: None Vice Mayor Richard A. Garbarino and Mayor Kevin Mullin ATTES
