HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 30-2011RESOLUTION NO. 30 -2011 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH METROMOBILE COMMUNICATIONS FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF TWENTY -ONE (21) KENWOOD KDS -100 MOBILE STATUS TERMINALS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $36,486.45; AND AMENDING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT'S FISCAL YEAR 2010 -11 OPERATING BUDGET WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ( "City ") staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute an Agreement with Metromobile Communications, of Menlo Park, California for the purchase and installation of twenty -one (21) Kenwood KDS -100 Mobile Status Terminals ( "Agreement ") in an amount not to exceed $36,486.45; and WHEREAS, the Fire Department is required to comply with an FCC mandate requiring narrow banding radio equipment; and WHEREAS, staff has determined that the purchase of Kenwood KDS -100 Mobile Status Terminals, meets the City's needs and concerns with respect to communication with the San Mateo County Public Safety Communications, while meeting the FCC narrow band radio communication mandate; and WHEREAS, Section 4.04.040 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code ( "SSFMC ") expressly authorizes the City to take advantage of valid contract terms that have been negotiated by another governmental agency, where that agency had used a quote or bid process substantially conforming with SSFMC Chapter 4.04 and State law; and WHEREAS, in 2010 the South County Fire Authority conducted a bid process and executed a contract with Metromobile Communications for the purchase and installation of Kenwood KDS - 100 Mobile Status Terminals; and WHEREAS, staff has verified that the South County Fire Authority's bid process and agreement with Metromobile Communications substantially conforms to SSFMC Chapter 4.04 and State law; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby: 1. Authorizes the City Manager to execute the Agreement in an amount not to exceed $36,486.45 on behalf of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco upon timely submission by Metromobile Communications of the signed Agreement and all other required documents, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 23 day of February 2011 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mark Addiego, Pedro Gonzalez, and Karyl Matsumoto, NOES: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: None 2.
