HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 79-1988RESOLUTION NO. 79-88 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR LIBRARY SERVICES AND CONSTRUCTION ACT GRANT FUNDS FROM THE CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY (PROYECTO ALCANCE) WHEREAS, Congress, by enacting Public Law 84-597, as amended, has made available funds in the form of formula grants for library services and construction; and WHEREAS, these funds may be used for books and other library materials, library eqJipment, salaries and other operating expenses; and WHEREAS, the South San Francisco Public Library has developed a project entitled ")royecto Alcance" to develop a link with the Hispanic Community served by 'the Grand Avenue Library by producing a videotape in Spanish to explain what the library is about and how to use it successfully by expanding registration through visits to target schools and child care centers, and by hosting hospitality events around major holidays to introduce Hispanic families to the lib"ary in a nonthreatening way; and WHEREAS, it appears that this program is eligible to receive Library Services aid Construction Grant Act funds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Librarian is hereby authorized to make application for Library Services and Construction Grant funds in the amount of Forty Eight Thousand N"nety Dollars ($48.090.00) to implement the program as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 22nd day of June , 1988, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mark N. Addiego, Richard A. Haffey, Gus Nicolopulos, Roberta Cerri Teglia, and Jack Drago NOES: None ABSTAIN: None ABSENT: None
