HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 112-1988RESOLUTION NO. 112-88 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MARK LEWIS WHEREAS, Mark Lewis commenced working for the City of South San Francisco in May of 1984 and after four years has decided to move on to a new challenge as City Manager of the City of Monterey Park; and WHEREAS, Mark served as City Manager of the City of South San Francisco from June, 1987 to August, 1988, having previously been Deputy City Manager and Department Head of the Community Development and Administration Department; and WHEREAS, he is a graduate of Washington State University, having attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1975, majoring in Political Science with an emphasis in government administration and community organization and has pursued post-baccalaureate work in finance and accounting; and WHEREAS, prior to coming to South San Francisco, Mark served as City/Borough Administrative Assistant for the City and Borough of Juneau, Alaska; Commissioner of the State of Alaska; and City Manager of the City of Valdez, Alaska; and WHEREAS, Mark has been active and made contributions to professional organizations, including the Municipal Management Assistants of Northern California, and the Executive Committee of the CCAN Innovation Group; and WHEREAS, through his efforts the City received its first Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, which is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting; and WHEREAS, during his tenure, many significant programs were developed and implemented, among his most notable accomplishments being: implementation of a new computer system for the City's Finance Division; the development of a program for revitalizing deteriorating portions of the City's downtown and surrounding areas, the Magnolia Senior Housing project; the initiation of a sales tax improvement strategy; the negotiation of several multi-year labor agreements; improved employee development through the Frontline Leadership program; initiation of the City's Administrative Internship Program; and the acquisition of land to expand Orange Memorial Park. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of South San Francisco wishes to acknowledge Mark's tenure with our City and wish him good luck in his future endeavors. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the lOth day of August , 1988, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mark N.
