CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING ROBERT S. YEE
WHEREAS, Robert S. Yee first began work for the City of South San Francisco
on February 4, 1974 as City Engineer; and
WHEREAS, Bob became Director of Public Services in July 1979 and Deputy
City Manager/Director of Technical and Maintenance Services/City Engineer in
October, 1984; and
WHEREAS, Bob served as Interim City Manager from August 16, 1988 to
September 19, 1988; and
WHEREAS, after attending the University of Wisconsin for one year and
serving in the United States Army during the Korean War, Bob received his
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of
California at Berkeley; and
WHEREAS, during his fourteen and one-half years with the City, Bob has
actively participated in and developed many significant projects which have
improved the lives of South San Francisco's residents, including: the Water
Quality Control Plant modernization; the Colma Creek Flood Control Project,
including Chairmanship of the Colma Creek Flood Control Advisory Committee
for fourteen years; the South San Francisco Airport Noise Insulation Project;
the East Grand Avenue Grade Separation; the Downtown Revitalization Project;
and the renovation and construction of the City's public facilities,
particularly City Hall, the Magnolia Center and the Municipal Services
Building; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his work on behalf of the City, Bob has been
active in many civic and community activities including the North Peninsula
Chinese Association, which he founded, the Organization of Chinese Americans,
the Asian American Advisory Committee to which he was appointed by State
Senator Quentin Kopp, the Westborough Homeowners Association and the South
San Francisco Boys Club; and
WHEREAS, while Bob will be spending time with his family, perfecting his
golf game, rooting for the Cal Bears and traveling, he will be missed by his
coworkers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that it does hereby express appreciation to Robert S. Yee for his
dedicated services to the City of South San Francisco and does order this
Resolution incorporated in the official records of the City as this Council's
expression of appreciation and its wishes for his long and happy retirement.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and
adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular
meeting held on the 12th day of October , 19 88 by the following vote:
