CIITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A CHILD CARE
PROGRAM FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
WHEREAS, the City recognizes the need for adequate child care for
employeesl; and
WHERE~s, the 1987-88 City Council Goals and Objectives directed staff
to establ!ish a child care program for City employees; and
WHEREAS,, allowing employees to enroll their children in established
City-sponsored child care programs at a reduced rate would result in the
achievement of the Council's goal with a minimal financial input;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco that it hereby establishes an Employee Child Care Program, to
be implemented by the City Manager, as follows:
1. ~he program is available to all full-time employees except those in
the appointed positions of City Manager and City Attorney, who have children
age 3 through 12 who are the offspring of the employee or who are permanently
living inithe same household as the employee or for whom the employee is the
legal guardian. The program is not available to elected officials or to
members of appointed boards and commissions.
2. The established City-sponsored child care programs include Pre-School
(3-5 year~) and After School Day Care (K-9 grades) but do not include Summer
Day Camp, Christmas Camp, and Easter Camp.
3. Registration is open throughout the year through the Department of
Recreatioh and Community Services.
4. Rates will be at-cost and are subject to being adjusted in accord
with regular registration fees.
5. Employees must comply with all policies that regulate participation
in the program by the general public.

'he City Manager is authorized to recommend the establishment of
policies regulating the Employee Child Care Program, as necessary.
