CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION APPROVING SPECIFICATIONS AND
CALLING BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF FIVE (5)
TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS, BID NO. 1769
WHEREAS, specifications providing for certain improvement work have
been submitted, which specifications are entitled:
PURCHASE OF FIVE (5) TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS, BID NO. 1769
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to approve said specifications and
call for sealed proposals;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco, that:
1. The specifications identified above are hereby approved and the
specifications are by this reference made a part hereof.
2. The Purchasing Office of the City is hereby directed to publish a
notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the purchase in accordance with
the specifications on file in the Purchasing Office. Notice shall be
published at least twice not less than five (5) days apart in the
Enterprise-Journal, a newspaper of general circulation printed and published
in the City of South San Francisco. The first publication of the notice
shall be at least ten {10} days before the date of opening of the bids.
All proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a cashier's or
certified check payable to the order of the City of South San Francisco in
an amount equal to not less than ten percent (10%) of the bid figure, or by
a bond in the amount drawn in favor of the City and executed by a corporate
surety. The check shall be forfeited by the bidder, or the bond shall become
payable to the City in case the lowest responsible bidder (or bidders)
depositing the same does not, within the time set forth in the plans and
specifications, enter into a contract with the City. Faithful performance of
the contract shall be guaranteed by an undertaking in the amount of one
hundred percent (100%) of the sum bid, the undertaking being that of a
corporate surety satisfactory to the City Council. The contract shall be
accompanied by a labor and materials bond of a corporate surety, also in a
sum equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the bid for any bid
in an amount not exceeding $5 Million Dollars; and in a sum as required by
Civil Code Section 3248 for any bid in excess of $5 Million Dollars. In
case of a forfeiture, as provided for in the preceding sentence, the
defaulting bidder shall be liable to said City for any additional expense to
which it may reasonably be put in connection with obtaining full and
complete performance of the particular work of improvement with which this
Notice to Bidders is concerned.
3. Bids will be received by the City of South San Francisco,
California, at the office of the Purchasing Office of said City, City Hall
Annex, 315 Maple Avenue, South San Francisco, California 94080, at or before
the hour of 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, the 16th day of February, 1988.
The bids will be publicly opened, examined and declared at that
time in the Conference Room, City Hall, 400 Grand Avenue, South San
Francisco, and award will thereafter be made by the City Council of the City
to the lowest responsible bidder or bidders, subject, however, to the right
by the City Council to reject any and all bids.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a
regular meeting held on the 27th day of January , 1988, by the
following vote:
