HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 18-1988RESOLUTION NO. 18-88 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PERIODIC DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN RECORDS OF THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO POLICE DEPARTMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 34090 ET SEQ. WHEREAS, pursuant to an authorizing resolution by the City Council, Government Code Section 34090 permits the head of a city department to destroy any city record, document, instrument, book or paper without making a copy thereof, after the same is no longer required, if the record is at least two (2) years old and does not come within any other exception and Government Code Section 34090.6 permits the destruction of communication tapes over one hundred (100) days old; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 170-86, the Council adopted the "South San Francisco Records Retention Schedule"; and WHEREAS, the Police Chief is prepared on a yearly basis to certify that certain materials, not previously included in the retention schedule have been retained for the requisite period of time and is prepared to seek the City Attorney's written consent to the destruction of the records; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that it hereby amends the "South San Francisco Records Retention Schedule" to include the materials listed in Exhibit "A" and hereby approves periodic destruction of those records. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the loth day of February , 19 88 by the following vote: AYES: NOES: ABSTAIN: ABSENT: Councilmembers Mark N.
