HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 65-1987 RESOLUTION NO. 65-87 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION COMMENDING WILLIAM POPE WHEREAS, since February 1, 1957, William Pope has dedicated over thirty (30) years of his life to serving the citizens of the City of South San Francisco as a Fire Fighter; and WHEREAS, he has been certified as a Fire Fighter I, EMT I, and Driver/ Operator I by the California State Board of Fire Services, and since January 1, 1985 has held the position of Fire Engineer and is known for maintaining his engine in peak condition; and WHEREAS, Bill was a charter member of Local 1507, International Association of Fire Fighters, and has served at various times as its President, Vice President and Secretary; and WHEREAS, he has actively and compassionately served his community as Secretary of the South San Francisco Widows and Orphans Aid Association as well as being a member in good standing of the South San Francisco Employees Federal Credit Union Committee; and WHEREAS, Bill has never ceased to be willing to share knowledge with those around him and he has always been willing to jump in and lend a helping hand; and WHEREAS, on April 16, 1987, Bill retired after thirty (30) years of devoted service to the City of South San Francisco to pursue his retirement dreams of travel; and WHEREAS, Bill's colleagues knew him to be a fine employee, a great person and most of all a friend who will be greatly missed; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to express appreciation to William Pope for his contributions to the Fire Department and to the City of South San Francisco in general. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that it does hereby express appreciation to William Pope for his dedicated services to the City of South San Francisco and does order this Resolution incorporated in the official records of the City as this Council's expression of appreciation and its wishes for his long and happy retirement. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 27t~h day of Ma~ , 198_~Z_, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers__John ".Jack" Draqo~ Richard A, Haffey, ~us NicQlopu]_o~ Roberta Cerri ~ and Mark N, AddiegQ NOES: None ABSENT: None City Clerk -2-
