CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING THE FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL
IMPACT REPORT FOR THE MODIFIED SHEARWATER PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of South San Francisco has been pre-
sented with an Environmental Impact Report pertaining to the Shearwater Develop-
ment Project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has read and considered all environmental documen-
tation comprising the Final EIR, comments and responses thereto, and the list of
organizations and agencies commenting on the Supplement, and has found that the
Final EIR considers all significant environmental impacts at a level of detail
commensurate with any reasonable requirements for an informed decision; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has directed that the Final EIR consider various
alternatives including, but not limited to, deletion of the conference center,
replacement of one high-rise office building with a hotel, delay construction of
two mid-rise office buildings, and the "no project" alternative; and
WHEREAS, the Final EIR does include and discuss these various alternatives;
and
WHEREAS, the Final EIR discusses various significant environmental impacts
including, but not limited to, increased traffic volume, residential uses under
the San Francisco International Airport shoreline departure route; noise from
various proximate activities; and
WHEREAS, the City Council directed that staff further evaluate the available
alternatives and proposed mitigation measures and incorporate such mitigation
measures into the Shearwater Project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered a modification to the previously
approved Shearwater Project which deletes the Residential Component; and
WHEREAS, a Supplemental EIR will be done at a later date to specifically
explore alternatives to the Residential Component;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco does hereby certify the Final Environmental Impact Report for
the Shearwater Project, as modified by the deletion of the Residential Component,
as complete and adequate and prepared pursuant to the California Environmental
Quality Act and the CEQA Guidelines.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution supersedes Resolution No. 93-85.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at an adj. regular
meeting held on the 17th day of December , 1986, by the following
vote:
