HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 51-2011 RESOLUTION NO. 51 -2011 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN EMERGENCY CONTRACT WITH INTERSTATE GRADING & PAVING, INC. OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $103,675.37 AND AMENDING THE 2010/2011 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT BUDGET WHEREAS, on March 19, 2011, due to two (2) consecutive days of heavy rain, City of South San Francisco ( "City ") staff responded to a report of a sinkhole occurring at the rear of a home at 448 Hemlock Avenue; and WHEREAS, City staff determined that the sinkhole was occurring due to a thirty -nine (39) inch storm drain that was severely damaged; and WHEREAS, two large trees and a fence had fallen into the approximately fifteen (15) foot deep and twenty (20) food wide sinkhole, requiring immediate repairs to the storm drain; and WHEREAS, due to the depth of the storm drain pipe and magnitude of the necessary repairs, the City did not have the ability to perform the necessary repairs; and WHEREAS, City staff contacted Interstate Grading and Paving, Inc., of South San Francisco, who were able to immediately respond to staff s request and begin excavation and repair of the storm drain; and WHEREAS, Interstate Grading and Paving, Inc., has completed the necessary repairs; and WHEREAS, this project was not planned for, and therefore was not included in the City's 2010 -11 Capital Improvement Program (CEP) budget. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby approves an emergency contract with Interstate Grading & Paving, Inc. of South San Francisco, California, in an amount not to exceed $103,675.37 and amends the 2010 -11 Capital Improvement Program Budget. * * * * * I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 13 day of April, 2011 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mark Addiego, Pedro Gonzalez, and Karyl Matsumoto, Vice Mayor Richard A.
