CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MARIE MATILDA BRANDFASS
WHEREAS, MARIE MATILDA BRANDFASS has dedicated almost thirty (30) years
of her life to the public library system of South San Francisco; and
WHEREAS, Marie obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University
of Nevada in Reno, obtained her thirty (30) unit Librarian's Certificate at
the University of San Francisco, and has completed additional teaching courses
at Fresno State, San Jose State a~d San Francisco State; and
WHEREAS, she devotedly served adults and children alike in her research
and reference work, additionally booking programs, handling varied financial
transactions, organizing and supervising summer reading programs, supervising
part-time employees and pages, and instructing student classes on the many
facets of library usage at the Grand Avenue and West Orange Libraries; and
WHEREAS, she faithfully and conscientiously attended, coordinated,
originated and reported on diverse programs, displays and workshops over the
years, earning her promotion as Library Assistant III; and
WHEREAS, her active community involvements have included the American
Legion Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Drum and Bugle Corps
Parent Group, Parent Teachers Association, American Association of University
Women, Catholic Daughters Organization, and, Friends of the Library groups in
the cities of South San Francisco, Millbrae and Burlingame; and
WHEREAS, Marie's cheerful personality and lengthy period of service to
this City's library system bestowed beautiful childhood memories on many now
adult patrons; and
WHEREAS, her visions for a "quiet" retirement include the enjoyment of
grandchildren, music, sports, handcrafts, traveling, genealogical research
of her family tree, reading, and writing a book on amusing library incidents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco that it does hereby express deep appreciation to Marie Matilda
Brandfass for her loyal and dedicated services to the City of South San
Francisco and does order this Resolution incorporated in the official records
of the City as this Council's expression and its wishes for her long and happy
retirement.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a
regular meeting held on the 25th day of June
1986 by the following vote:
