CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE
"FAIR RESPONSIBILITY ACT OF 1986"
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that:
WHEREAS, current law in the State of California allows for damages to be
assessed against public agencies without being limited to the agency's actual
degree of liability (joint and several liability); and
WHEREAS, these unfair provisions of law have led to skyrocketing liability
insurance premiums for most local government agencies and the inability to secure
insurance coverage for others; and
WHEREAS, the voters of the State of California will have the opporunity to
approve an initiative measure in June, 1986, which will correct some of the
inequities currently existing; and
WHEREAS, the "Fair Responsibility Act of 1986" will provide some measure of
fairness and protection against unreasonable liability;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco does hereby endorse the "Fair Responsibility Act of 1986" and urges
its citizens to support said initiative at the primary election on June 3, 1986.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and
adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular
meeting held on the 12th day of February , 19 86 , by the following
