HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 78-1986RESOLUTION NO. 78-86 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION PLAN BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of South San Francisco that the Employee Classification Plan, as amended, is further amended effective May 1, 1986 as follows: 1. The Class Specifications for the Position of Superintendent of Parks and Landscape is hereby deleted. 2. The Class Specifications for Landscape Architect is hereby approved (Exhibit A). I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 23rd day of ^pri] , 1986 , by the following vote: AYES: CouncilmemDers Mark N. Addiego, John "JacK" Draqo, Richard A.Haffev, Gus Nicolopulos and Roberta Cerri Te.qlia None NOES: ABSENT: None ATTEST: City clerk Exhibit #1 to Resolution #78-86 Landscape Architect THE POSITION Under direction of the department heads, the Landscape Architect prepares and reviews plans, specifications, studies, reports and related documents for any landscape/irrigation and street tree planting throughout the City. Employees in this Class work in consultation with the Planning Division, Building Division, Engineering Division, and any other City entity to accomplish tasks. They also interface with private developers, contractors, and other city, state, and county agencies. REQUIREMENTS Education and ExDerience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture, or related field, and three years of increasing responsibility as a full-time ..professional landscape architect or landscape contractor, at least one ear of which must have included experience in supervising and oordinating the construction or design of major landscape projects. Typical Tasks: The function includes all landscape and irrigation plan checks for the City; landscape review; field inspection of all projects; final approval on all projects; plant material recommendation; maintain complete files; inspect landscape construction sites and attend respective homeowners meetings as required. As City staff representative, he/she must meet with the Design Review Board, Technical Advisory Group, and work jointly with other City forces to develop and design acceptable landscape projects for the City; keep records; prepare contracts, and review or inspect contractors maintenance of existing or new landscape development. Will also be required to attend meeting where needed and serve as staff person with the Beautification Sub-committee. Keep accurate records, and prepare clear and concise oral and written reports, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with City/County municipal officials and the general public. Knowledge and Ability: ___- Principles of landscape architecture. Design and landscape construction methods. - Natural resource management practices. Drafting tools, methods, and techniques. - Trees, shrubs and plants used in landscaping in Northern California. - California soil conditions. - Problem encountered in road and building location engineering work related to landscaping features. - Soil preparation, planting and pruning techniques, principles of tree surgery. - Preparing sketches or renderings for detail plans and specifications. - Effective oral communication. - Writing clear, concise reports License Possession of the appropriate valid Operator's --tate of California.
