HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 98-1986RESOLUTION NO. 98-86 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING GRANT APPLICATIONS FOR A SENIOR ORAL HISTORY/TEEN ¥IDEO PROGRAM THROUGH THE CALIFORNIA ARTS COUNCIL WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco supports the role of the arts in enhancing the quality of life of our residents; and WHEREAS, the South San Francisco Recreation ~epartment strives to provide opportunities for creative and educatioral leisure programs for all ages; and WHEREAS, the life experiences of our senior residents are a valuable resource, the documentation of which can be of berefit to the entire community; and WHEREAS, the interest teens have in video car be developed into a valuable skill while their appreciation for the experiences of seniors is deepened through interaction; and WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco Recreation Department can derive ongoing benefit from the acquisition of video equipment; NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of South San Francisco that: 1. It supports and authorizes appropriate grant applications for the purpose of funding an oral history/teen video program; and The City of South San Francisco will provide, conditional upon a grant from the California Arts Council, the monthly matching salary payment of $300.00 per month for a 9 month period as specified in the program guidelines; and Will provide artists Steve Cohen and Martha Cain with the supplies and materials, classroom space, and administrative support necessary for the conduct of this program, including the purchase of video equipment which will be the property of the City of South San Francisco and will be used for subsequent activities and programs. We understand that as sponsors of this program, the City of South San Francisco is responsible for direct payment to the artists for its portion of the artist's fee. Participants will not be charged for the program activities. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a reqular meeting held on the 14th day of May , 19 86 , by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mark N. Addie.qo, John "Jack" Draqo, Richard A. Haffey, Gus Nicolopulos and Roberta Cerri Teglia NOES: None ABSENT: None
