CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS,
AUTHORIZING THE WORK AND CASLING BIDS FOR WORK
AND CALLING BIDS FOR FAIRWA% & WEST ORANGE AVE.
SANITARY SEWER CONSTRUCTION iPROJECT NO. SS-83-7
AND LINDEN AVE. & HILLSIDE BLVD. STORM DRAIN
PROJECT NO. SD-85-2; BID NO. 1701
BE IT RESOLVED by the City CounCil of the City of South San
Francisco, that: '~
WHEREAS. plans and specifications providing for certain
improvement work have been submitted, which plans and
specifications are entitled: ~
FAIRWAY & WEST ORANGE AVE. S~NITARY SEWER CONSTRUCTION
PROJECT NO. SS-83-7 AND LINDEN AVE. &! HILLSIDE BLVD. STORM DRAIN
PROJECT NO. SD-85-2; BID NO. 1701
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desirers to approve said plans and
specifications, authorize the work an~ call for sealed proposals;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that:
1. The plans and specificaticns hereinbefore named and
identified are hereby approved and thie work therein provided is
hereby authorized, and said plans and ispecifications are referred
to and by this reference made a pairt hereof the same as if
recited herein verbatim. ~
2. The Purchasing Officer of said City is hereby directed
to publish a notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for said
work in accordance with the plans and Specifications hereinbefore
named and identified and on file in t~e office of the Purchasing
Officer. Notice shall be published at least twice not less than
five (5) days apart in the Enterpris!e-Journal, a newspaper of
general circulation printed and published in the City of South
San Francisco. The first publication!of the notice shall be at
least ten (10) days before the date ofiopening of the bids.
All proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a
cashier's or certified check payable tO the order of the City of
South San Francisco in an amount equal to not less than ten
percent (10%) of the bid figure, or ~y a bond in said amount
drawn in favor of said City and execu~ed by a corporate surety.
Said check shall be forfeited by ibidder, or said bond shall
become payable to said City in case ~he lowest responsible bidder
(or bidders) depositing the same d~es not, within the time set
forth in said plans and specificat%ons, enter into a contract
with said City, the faithful performance of which shall be
guaranteed by an undertaking in the ~mount of one hundred percent
(100%) of the sum bid, said undertaking being that of a corporate
surety satisfactory to said City qouncil, and which contract
shall be accompanied by a labor and materials bond of a corporate
surety, also in a sum equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the
amount of said bid for any bid ~n an amount not exceeding
$25,000; and in a sum as required bylCivil Code Section 3248 for
any bid in excess of $25,000. In case of a forfeiture, as
provided for in the preceding sentence, the defaulting bidder
shall be liable to said City for any~additional expense to which
it may reasonably be put in connect$on with obtaining full and
complete performance of the particular work of improvement with
which this Notice to Bidders is concerned.
3. Bids will be received b~ the City of South San
Francisco, California, at the officeOf the Purchasing Officer of
said City, City Hall Annex, 315 Maple Avenue, South San
Francisco, California 94080:
at or before the hour of 2:00 P.M.
on Monday , the 13thI day of January , 1986,
said time not being less than teni (10) days from the first
publication of notice. The bids ]will be publicly opened,
examined and declared at said time ih the Conference Room, City
Hall, 400 Grand Avenue, South San iFrancisco, and award will
thereafter be made by the City Counci~ of said City to the lowest
responsible bidder or bidders, subject, however, to the right of
said City Council to reject any andl all bids, which right is
hereby reserved.
