CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION AWARDING THE CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT TO INTERSTATE GRADING & PAVING, INC.
FOR THE 2010 STREET RESURFACING PROJECT: VARIOUS
STREETS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1,132,895
AND AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF $712,000 IN
FEDERAL GRANT FUNDS AND AMENDING THE 2010 -2011
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM BUDGET
WHEREAS, the staff issued a Notice Inviting Bids for the 2010 Street Resurfacing
Project: Various Streets ( "Project ") and on April 19, 2011, received seven (7) valid bids in
response; and
WHEREAS, Interstate Grading & Paving, Inc. ( "Interstate ") of South San Francisco,
California, was the lowest responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, the Project is included in the City of South San Francisco's 2010 -2011
Capital Improvement Program ( "CIP ") and staff requests acceptance of $712,000 in Federal
grant funds and amending the CIP budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby:
1. Awards the construction contract to Interstate Grading & Paving, Inc. of South
San Francisco, California, in an amount not to exceed $1,132,895, conditioned on
Interstate's timely execution of the Project contract and submission of all required
documents, including but not limited to, executed bonds, certificates of insurance,
and endorsements, in accordance with the Project documents.
2. Accepts $712,000 in federal grant funds for the Project and amends the CIP
budget.
3. Directs the Finance Department to establish the Project Budget amending the
2010 -2011 CIP budget as detailed in accordance with the staff report.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the
documents on behalf of the City Council upon timely submission by Interstate Grading &
Paving, Inc.'s signed contract and all other required documents, subject to approval by the City
Attorney.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 11 day of
May 2011 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Mark Addiego, Pedro Gonzalez, and Karyl Matsumoto,
Vice Mayor Richard A. Garbarino and Mayor Kevin Mullin
