CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING EMANUELE 'MIDGE' DAMONTE
WHEREAS, Emanuele 'Midge' Damonte while, attending San Francisco State
College, earned a B.A. in Elementary Education and a M.A. in Elementary
Administration; and
WHEREAS, he is a great educator and has taught his students in the
need for social development along with academic pursuits through field trips to
make the children aware and appreciative of their environment; and
WHEREAS, he has exhibited an acute understanding of others and has
lived and worked by high moral and ethical standards in his role as an
Elementary School Principal; and
~HEREAS, he has organized outdoor educational programs wherein his stu-
dents would be taken for a week in the outdoors, sleeping on the groun~ and
learning to do their own cooking; and
WHEREAS, he is well known for a keen sense of humor, such as the time
on a snow field trip his boys fell into a cesspool that had been dyed pink to
warn people to stay away from the area; his love of dressing up in costume on
Holloween; and
WHEREAS, his civic involvements have been numerous: City Educational
Chairman, of the American Cancer Society; Member of the Criminal Justice
Committee; Member of the San Mateo County Grand Jury; Charter Member, Board
of Directors, South San Francisco Boys' Club; Deputy Probation Officer, San
~ateo County Juvenile Hall; and
WHEREAS, he and wife Carolyn have successfully raised seven children
and have eight grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, during his nine and a half years on the Council he served as
Mayor, Vice Mayor and Councilman and was instrumental in effecting: the ~eve-
lopment of the Marina; the Downtown Revitalization; the completion of the
Municipal Services Building; the Gateway Project; the forming of the PING;
inception of the history room at Grand Avenue and the subsequent formation of
the Historical Society;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco that the City Council does hereby commend and ~xpress appreciation
to Emanuele 'Midge' Damonte for his years of service to this community and does
order this Resolution incorporated in the official records of the City as this
Council's expression of its wishes for a continued successful career in com-
munity service and in the field of education.
! hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a
regular meeting held on the 13th day of November , 1985, by the
following vote:
