HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 183-1985 RESOLUTION NO. 183-85 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT ENTITLED "JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT" BETWEEN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AND THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO WHEREAS, Article I (commencing with Section 6500), Chapter 5, Division 7, Title I of the California Government Code establishes a procedure whereby two or more public agencies may jointly exercise any powers common to the contract- ing parties; and WHEREAS, each of the parties to this agreement is a "public agency" as defined in Section 6500 of the Government Code and is authorized to acquire, own, use and operate property for transportation and related purposes, and to exercise powers necessary or convenient in connection therewith; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the public to provide, construct and maintain a public roadway consisting of an extension of existing Gateway Boulevard situated within the Gateway Redevelopment Project connecting South Airport Boulevard and East Grand Avenue; and WHEREAS, Agency has an acquisition program for project purposes in the area of the proposed Gateway Extension; and WHEREAS, City and Agency have a mutual interest in the development of trans- portation and related projects consistent with local transportation needs; and WHEREAS, said parties support the public acquisition of the property described herein to provide for development of a public roadway facility to be known as the "Gateway Extension." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that: 1. The Agreement between the City of South San Francisco and the Redevelop- ment Agency of the City of South San Francisco is hereby approved, and a copy of said Agreement is attached hereto as Exhibit "A." 2. The City Manager is authorized to execute said Agreement on behalf of the City and the City Attorney attest his signature thereto. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 28th day of August , 1985 , by the following vote: AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Councilmembers Mark N.
