HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 101-1985 RESOLUTION NO. 101-85 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION CO,ENDING JOHN JOSEPH PREVITI WHEREAS, John Joseph Previti is retiring on May $1, 1985, having served the City of South San Francisco for more than thirty-nine (39) years as a faithful employee; and WHEREAS, John's initial appointment with the City of South San Francisco was as a Gardener with the Park Department on May 8, 1946, thereafter being promoted to Heavy Equipment Operator for the Public Works Department on July 1, 1955; and WHEREAS, displaying his abilities and initiative during his employment, John was elevated to Parking Meter Collector/Repairer for the Parking District on April 29, 1963; and WHEREAS, During his tenure, John has worked for the present and three (($) former Police Chiefs of the City of South San Francisco; and WHEREAS. on June 19, 1964 John gained recognition from the Police Chief for his efforts to help a mother and her baby stranded in their automobile, and on March 16, 1965 John was commended for rescuing a citizen from a South San Francisco neighborhood fire, showing disregard for his own personal safety; and WHEREAS, on January 12, 1977 John received a commendation from the Parking Place Commission for his prompt and efficient service to the Commission, and for the benefit of the South San Francisco community, in the implementation of down- town business area parking meter regulations; and WHEREAS, John has demonstrated his interest in the present and future of the City of South San Francisco by assisting in the design and landscaping of Orange Memorial Park; and WHEREAS, John served our country as a U. S. Army Medic in the European Theater during World War II; and WHEREAS, John and his lovely wife Tina have raised three children, who have blessed them with four grandchildren; and WHEREAS, John Previti's dream of retirement is to pursue his hobbies of stamp and coin collecting, playing golf, traveling and, in general, enjoying life; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that it does hereby express appreciation to John Joseph Previti for his dedicated services to the City of South San Francisco and does order this Resolution incorporation in the official records of the City as this Council's expression of appreciation and its wishes for his long and happy retirement. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at an adj. regular meeting held on the 29th day of May , 198 5 · by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mark N.
