HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 19-1985RESOLUTION NO. 19-85 A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION PLAN BY REVISING THE JOB SPECIFICATION FOR THE POSITION OF EQUIPMENT OPERATOR BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the Employee Classification Plan, as amended, is further amended as follows: 1. To revise the Job Specification for the position of Equipment Operator as attached. Haffey, Gus Nicolopulos; Roberta Cerri Teglia None ~ CIT~ OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO JANUARY 1985 EQUIPMENT OPERATOR DEFINITION Under general supervision, as a major assignment, to operate a variety of construction and power driven equipment including grader, loader, roller, and backhoe; and performs related duties as assigned. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Positions in this class are assigned, as a major assignment, the operation of various construction and power driven equipment requiring a high degree of coordinated skill to accomplish work efficiently and safely. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Operates skillfully construction or maintenance equipment such as rollers, graders, loaders, tractors, trucks, and backhoes; cuts, fills, levels, grades, and compacts surfaces; loads and moves heavy equipment occasionally; may direct a crew working in conjunction with equipment; assists in servicing and maintaining assigned equipment. LICENSE Possession of California Class I Driver's License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: The operation and capabilities of a variety of construction and maintenance equipment. Methods, practices, materials, and equipment used in public works construction and maintenance; Proper servicing of assigned equipment; Safe work practices. and Ability to: Operate skillfully a variety of construction and maintenance equipment; Grade to survey stakes; Understand and carry out oral and written directions; Work cooperatively with those contacted in the course of work. and EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years increasingly responsible experience in Public Works Construction and Maintenance Work and two (2) years of experience in the operation of a loader, backhoe, grader and roller, or Satisfactory completion of an approved inter-departmental construction and power driven equipment training program. and EDUCATION: Equivalent to completion of the eighth (8th) grade.
