CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO'S
SISTER CITY, IXTEPEC, OAXACA, MEXICO ON THE FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY
OF THE ISSUANCE OF ITS FORMAL CHARTER AS A CITY
and
WHEREAS, the City of Ixtepec, Oaxaca, Mexico, was founded in 1500;
WHEREAS, the City of Ixtepec was formally chartered in 1935; and
WHEREAS, Ixtepec, as a City, rests on a site rich in archeological
evidence of Mexican culture and history; and
WHEREAS, the City of Ixtepec with its university, technological
institutes, teacher's college and federal government buildings is sym-
bolic of Mexico's independence of thought and on-going commitment to the
free exchange of ideas and experiences; and
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco is honored to be affiliated
with the City of Ixtepec as its Sister City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of South San Francisco
hereby congratulates the City of Ixtepec, its President, Dr. Gilberto
Melendez Valencia and its residents on this, the Fiftieth Anniversary of
the issuance of its formal charter as a City.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a
regular meeting held on the 27th day of March , 1985, by
the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Mark N. Addiego. Emanuele N. Damonte., Richar& A. Haffey,
Gus Nicolnpulos; and Roherta £mrri Tegl~,
