A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION
PLAN BY MODIFYING THE JOB SPECIFICA-
TION FOR THE POSITION OF PARKING
METER COLLECTOR MAINTENANCE - REPAIRER
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
that the Employee Classification Plan, as amended, is further amended as
follows:
1. To modify the Job Specification for the position of:
° PARKING METER COLLECTOR MAINTENANCE - REPAIRER
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a
requ]ar meeting held on the 27th day of March , 1985,

DEFINITION:
PARK1NG METER COLLECTOR - REPAIRER
Under general supervision, to collect coins from parking meters; to count and
sort coins; to inspect and repair meters; and to do )-elated work as required.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The major work assignment of an incumbent whose position is assigned to this
class involves collecting coins from parking meters and inspecting and repairing
same, counting and sorting coins.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Collects coins from parking meters; counts~ sorts and bags coins for bank depo-
sit; performs such preventive maintenance as oiling, cleaning and adjusting
meters on streets; inspects meters and replaces malfunctioning meters:
disassembles and inspects components of faulty meters; removes and replaces
faulty components; checks complaints from citizens regarding faulty meters;
maintains records of money collected, condition of meters, and repairs performed;
maintains parking district workshop.
LICENSE:
Possession of a California Class.3 operator's license issued by the State
Department of Motor Vehicles.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowl edge of:
Methods, practices and tools relating to the assembling and repairing of
smal 1 mechani sins;
Geography of City, including the location and layout of streets;
Standard methods, materials and equipment used in the building trades;
Safe work practices.
Ability to:
Collect and account for money;
Service and replace components of parking meters;
Use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely;
Work from sketches and drawings;
Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the
course of work.

EXPERIENCE:
One (£) year of experience in mechanical repair work, preferably including
making a~justments'and repairs on appliances' meters or related mechanisms.

EDUCATION:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
