HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 4032-1964 RESOLUTION NO. 4032 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE FOURTH SUNDAY IN SEPTEMBER OF EACH YEAR AS "INTERFAITH DAY" WHEREAS, the United States of America was founded on the firm basis of freedom of thought and conscience; and WHEREAS, the fomentin~ of antagonism between Americans on a basis of sectarian creed is contrary to American tradi- tions and to the spirit of the ~uarantees of freedom or wor- ship embodied in the Constitution of the United States; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of South San Fran- cisco desires to encourage the mutual understandin~ of all people of good will; and WHEREAS, the pro~ram of the interfaith movement offers a practicable means for encoura~n~ such mutual understanding; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLlrED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the fourth Sunday in Sep- tember of each year is hereby designated as "Interfaith Day" and the Mayor of the City of South San Francisco is authorized and requested to issue annually a Proclamation callin~ on the residents of the City of South San Francisco to observe such day, and ur~in~ them to participate in the observance of such day by such means as they may deem appropriate.
