HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 89-2011 RESOLUTION NO. 89 -2011 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AND THE CITY OF PACIFICA FOR POLICE COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES AND AMENDING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT 2011/2012 BUDGET WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the Police Department to enter into an agreement with the City of Pacifica ( "Pacifica ") to provide police communications services to Pacifica; and WHEREAS, South San Francisco desires to furnish police communications services to Pacifica through the utilization of South San Francisco facilities and staff; and WHEREAS, South San Francisco and Pacifica have determined that the computer -aided dispatch and records management systems belonging to both cities are compatible and will be an effective method of communications and record keeping; and WHEREAS, the cost to Pacifica will cover the added expense to the City of South San Francisco for the additional personnel and will provide South San Francisco with a contribution towards fixed equipment and administrative costs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council approves an agreement between the City of South San Francisco and the City of Pacifica for Police Communications Services. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby approves the addition of four (4) total Full Time Employees (FTE) to the Police Department Table of Organization, comprised of three (3) Communications Dispatchers and one (1) Supervising Dispatcher. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby amends the Police Department fiscal year 2011/2012 operating budget as follows: (1) approves the addition of $$447,000 to the Police Department employee services budget to fund the additional FTE 2011 -12; and (2) approves the addition of $550,000 to the Police Department Revenue budget to represent the payments that Pacifica will make for dispatching services. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager of the City of South San Francisco is hereby authorized and directed to execute the agreement between the City of South San Francisco and the City of Pacifica for Police Communications Services, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney, and to take any other action consistent with the intent of this Resolution. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 13 day of July 2011 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mark Addiego, Pedro Gonzalez, and Karyl Matsumoto, Vice Mayor Richard A.
