CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE
2011/12 PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT
OPERATING BUDGET TO EXPAND THE BEFORE AND
AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM AT MONTE VERDE
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND TO ESTABLISH A BEFORE
AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM AT BURI BURI
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FUNDED BY CHILD CARE FEES
WHEREAS, the South San Francisco Unified School District has requested that the City
of South San Francisco ( "City ") expand capacity in the Before and After School Care Program at
Monte Verde Elementary School from 60 to 90 children; and
WHEREAS, the South San Francisco Unified School District has also requested that the
City open a Before and After School Care Program for up to 35 children at Buri Buri Elementary
School; and
WHEREAS, the expansion of these programs will provide 60 — 65 families with high
quality, safe and affordable childcare services; and
WHEREAS, the operating expenditures for these programs is expected to total $176,000,
and revenue is projected to total $198,000; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends amending the 2011/12 Parks and Recreation Department
Operating Budget in the amount of $176,000 to accommodate the expansion of the Before and
After School Care Programs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby approves an amendment to the 2011/12 Parks and
Recreation Department Operating Budget in order to add $176,000 for the expansion of childcare
programs. The revenue budget is increased by $198,000 with the additional dollars contributing
to the City's fixed costs of running and administering its child care program.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 27 day of
July 2011 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Mark Addiego, Pedro Gonzalez, and Karyl Matsumoto,
Vice Mayor Richard A. Garbarino and Mayor Kevin Mullin
