CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH
PLAYWORLD SYSTEMS, INC. OF REDDING, CALIFORNIA,
FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $99,799.42
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution awarding an
agreement to Playworld Systems, Inc. of Redding, California, for the purchase and installation of
new playground equipment for the following locations in the Westpark 3 area of the Common
Greens: between Bettman Way and Baldwin Hills Court, the end of Howard Court, between
Williams Court and Westchester Court, and between Downey Court and Wexford Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the project will involve removal of the old playground equipment and
installation of new ADA compliant playground equipment; and
WHEREAS, Section 4.04.040 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code authorizes the
City to take advantage of valid contract terms that have been negotiated by another governmental
agency, where that agency had used a quote or bid process substantially conforming with
SSFMC Chapter 4.04 and State law; and
WHEREAS, The Houston - Galveston Area Council (H -GAC) is a regional council of
governments and governed by a board comprised of 35 elected officials from the 13 county
region. The H -GAC Board awards all contracts, which can then be made available to local
governments nationwide thru HGACBuy; and
WHEREAS, staff has verified that the proposed agreement with Playworld Systems, Inc.
has properly utilized the HGACBuy bidding process; and
WHEREAS, staff has also verified that several California Cities have utilized the current
HGAC bidding process and prices for the purchase of playground equipment with Playworld
Systems; and
WHEREAS, the proposed agreement with Playworld Systems will use valid contract
terms established through the HGACBuy process; and
WHEREAS, funding is included in the 2011/12 CIP Budget (510- 99999- pk1014) in the
amount of $99,799.42 for the Phase 2 Common Greens Playground Equipment Replacement
Proj ect.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby awards an agreement to Playworld Systems, Inc. of
Redding, California, in the amount of $99,799.42 for purchase and installation of playground
equipment.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the
agreement on behalf of the City of South San Francisco, upon timely submission by Playworld
Systems of the signed agreement, and all other required documents, subject to approval as to
form by the City Attorney.
